This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Directorate of Logistics, Local Housing Office, Base Cape Cod, Buzzard's Bay, MA.

Duties

The role of this position is responsible for the clerical and administrative management of family and Unaccompanied Personnel Housing (UPH) housing the housing referral services and assisting with annual data collection.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.  Typical work assignments include:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-05 grade level if you possess at least three (3) years of general experience equivalent to the GS-04 level performing duties such as: - Analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions. - Planning and organizing work. - Communicating effectively orally and in writing.  OR Four (4) years course of study leading to a bachelor's degree; OR A combination of general experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in or related to the work of this position and some college level education that provided the specific knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position and experience. Experience and education combinations are computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the total of qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at that grade level. Note:  You must submit your transcript if you qualify with education. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Brach, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
