Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence and an ideal location for year round military training.

Duties

Determine, based on local policy and procedure, appropriate jurisdiction and services to be rendered. Administer caller interrogation to determine the problem and nature of the call. Evaluate 911 emergency calls, to include installation fire, police, ambulance service, and Commercial Intrusion Detection System alarms. Manipulate computer keyboard to acknowledge or defer alarms.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Emergency Medical Dispatch, and Hazardous Materials Awareness within six months of employment.
  • The incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch and Intrusion Detection education requirements through in-service training that is offered locally.
  • Required to take a pre-employment physical to meet position requirements.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • Position is subject to shift work where the incumbent is required to work an alternate work schedule which requires rotating shifts and an uncommon tour of duty (including nights, weekends and holidays).
  • Position may be subject to working overtime.
  • This position is designated as mission essential and will be required to work regardless of weather or installation closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
  • Performs work under stressful conditions and in a restricted office environment.
  • Contacts are made with police, fire and emergency medical personnel, callers who are often distraught, medical personnel at hospitals, representatives of mutual aid and other agencies in order to coordinate required life and death assistance.
  • The incumbent is required to wear a prescribed duty uniform.
  • Individuals must possess and maintain a valid State of Alabama driver's license.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain certification in Basic Telecommunication, Tele-communicator I and II, and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) within six months of employment.

Inputting and retrieving information from an automated information system; AND 3). Experience engaging incoming callers and deriving information according to business procedures and processes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-05.
