This is a career seasonal position located in SEKI in the Interpretation, Education and Partnerships Division. This position is ONLY open to current or former displaced Federal employees in the local commuting area eligible under the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP), current Department of Interior (DOI) employees in the local commuting area eligible under the Career Transition Program (CTAP), and the Veterans Employment Opportunities Act (VEOA) eligibility.

Duties

Major Duties: Serve as a Visual Information Specialist supporting public outreach through multi-media projects. Work includes supporting program plans for the visual aspects of such visual materials as photographs, illustrations, diagrams, graphs, objects, models, slides, and charts. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately Mid August to the end of July, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-04/08/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 (NOTE: Assistant or Technician work in a single grade occupational series at the GS-07 level does NOT qualify for this position, however GS-08 level may) grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience MUST include: 1) creating original designs for outdoor exhibit panels; 2) managing photo collections; 3) writing text that's accurate, concise, and clear; 4) developing inventories of interpretive media assets; and 5) other projects to create visual material and develop and edit text for use in communicating information through visual means. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least a master's or equivalent graduate degree or have completed 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Major of study must be related to the occupation such as commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position.
