About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Joint Interagency Task Force South, Intelligence & Security Directorate, U.S. Southern Command, Key West, FL, 33040 J2.

Duties

Briefs high-level command visitors, managers, and other key personnel on the JIATF South MASINT, Tags and Tagging program and its capabilities. Establishes and maintains direct liaison and coordination with DEA agents, Tactical Analysis Team (TAT) personnel, embassy personnel, intelligence agencies, and law enforcement organizations in support of counterdrug operations. Develops new approaches in application of MASI NT and Tagging and Tracking technologies to counter drug detection and monitoring. Serves as a MASI NT (Measurement and Signature Intelligence) (Tags and Tracking) /Special Programs Operations Officer in support of JIATF South. Reviews all aspects of emerging MASI NT and Tracking technologies and determines their applicability to the counterdrug mission.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a T5 (or equivalent) investigation.
  • Temporary duty (TDY) travel is required 25% or less of the time.

Specialized experience is defined as experience collecting, reviewing, and interpreting all-source intelligence through tagging and tracking devices (e.g., Measurement and Signature Intelligence) MASINT. Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: CommunicationsMeasurement and Signature Intelligence (MASINT) Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (TCPED)Planning and Evaluating
