This position is located in the Office of Communications and Outreach Group (OCOG), Office of Administrative Management, Center for Information Technology (CIT), National Institutes of Health (NIH). This position serves as a Supervisory Communications Specialist and advisor to CIT management and staff on matters related to communications.

Duties

Assigns, reviews, manages, and evaluates the work of government employees and contractors.Manages a team producing the full range of CIT communications and outreach activities and development of appropriate outreach materials and media messages. Reviews, edits, and clears communications, materials, and presentations prepared by CIT staff, and works with CIT and NIH employees to discuss specific areas that require special attention or evaluation by assisting in the development of new approaches and strategies. Devises communication strategies and directs initiatives to provide accurate, timely, complete, and audience-appropriate information on the full range of CIT services. Serves as a senior writer-editor responsible for providing high-level consultation and direction to professionals and senior management on communicating policies and services delivered by CIT. Develops written products that articulate, interpret, and explain highly complex, potentially controversial, and important NIH policies, programs, and research findings.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-15 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing leadership and oversight for the planning, organization, and implementation of communications and outreach programs for an organization; providing supervision, guidance, or direction to other staff in planning and carrying out organizational programs; evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization's communications program and advising senior officials on changes and adjustments; and providing writing and editing services for the communication of information on organizational programs, services, and policies.
