About the Position: This position as Safety and Occupational Health Manager is located with the US Army Forces Command, HQ, 3D Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, GA.

Duties

Serve as the principal representative and technical advisor on safety matters with primary responsibility for formulating and promulgating Division safety policy and procedures. Participate in or influence the formulation, development, implementation, and enforcement of the Safety Programs policies, directives and regulatory guidance. Implement safety programs to reduce the frequency of accidents or occupational illnesses. Develop scripts, talking papers, articles, and other safety risk management documents for publication. Develop programs of instruction, lesson plans, and supporting instructional materials in accordance with the systems approach to training.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Incumbent may be required to deploy with assigned unit for periods up to 365 days.
  • Incumbent will be required to pass a military standard physical examination. A pre-employment physical examination is required.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain Standard Army Safety Program Certification. Continuous education and training in a tactical field environment is required.
  • The military ACU is the duty uniform (when deployed, or in field environment). Incumbent will be issued standard Table of Allowance (TA) 50 tactical field gear such as backpack, canteen, pistol, etc., for use per local requirements.
  • Incumbent must be able to meet weapons qualifications requirements for 9MM pistol and/or M16/M4 rifle.
  • Incumbent must possess and be able to maintain a valid stateside driver’s license.
  • Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Government Vehicle drivers license within 30 days of employment and be able to maintain the same.
  • Incumbent may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or irregular duty hours commensurate with mission.
  • Work involves frequent visits and temporary duty in CONUS and OCONUS field sites as well as deployment and participation in military exercises in a variety of environments.
  • Above statement mandates walking, standing, stooping, bending, carrying, and similar movements, as well as agility, stamina, and dexterity.
  • During deployment, physical demands may be greatly increased and will require extended walking with a rucksack weighing about 50 pounds. Employee is required to work irregular and extended duty hours.
  • Incumbent is exposed on a regular and recurring basis to machines and equipment in operation, hazardous materials including compressed gases and flammable liquids, and construction hazards.
  • Exposure to elements associated in combat and contingency operations in CONUS and OCONUS locations. Protective clothing and equipment are required for wear. Employee may be required to perform work wearing chemical protection mask and clothing.
  • This position has been designated a Testing Designated Position and is therefore covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program which requires pre-employment and random drug urinalysis testing.
  • Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical Under the Department of the Army Drug–Free Federal Workplace Program.
  • This is an EMERGENCY ESSENTIAL (E-E) position subject to deployment. Anthrax inoculation program participation may be required to meet deployability requirements.
  • Employee must pass a medical examinaiton and receive required immunizations for overseas/deployed location.
