About the Position: This position is located in the Department of Behavioral Health at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii. The Tripler Army Medical Center Campus is a tobacco-free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices.

Duties

Serve as Lead Medical Support Assistant (OA) for the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). Distribute daily workload within limits established by the supervisor among employees in accordance with established workflow. Provide on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Coordinate appointments, follow-up contacts, and notifications to chain of command regarding evaluation and intervention. Maintain related statistical data and prepares monthly reports. Utilize office automation equipment, word processing software, and mission specific medical software to compile and type a variety of materials.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing office automation software programs and providing administrative support functions in a medical facility. Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Health Care Data Entry and ManagementManagement SupportPatient-focused Customer Service Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
