You will serve as a Lead Training Instructor in the Safety & Health Office of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Duties

You will conduct assessments and internal audits as appropriate to ensure adherence to Command, Naval, and Federal regulations. You will coach the training team in the best approach of problem solving methods and techniques. You will Intercede with the supervisor on behalf of the team to inform the supervisor of performance issues/problems. You will develop short and long range program plans, goals, objectives, and milestones plus evaluating the effectiveness of the program on activities throughout the command. You will develop lesson plans, course curriculum, and examination banks. You will schedule, enroll, and input data for all existing OSH training courses in an automated training management system. You will identify, distribute, and balance workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level and occupational specialization. You will ensure records are available for audits conducted by teams internal or external of the command.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying training principles and techniques to provide subject matter classroom training; developing lesson plans and training materials; and evaluating course content to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and procedures.
