About the Position: This position is located in DMWR, Community Service Division, Ft Hunter Liggett, CA

Duties

Carry out program management responsibility for a Family Advocacy Program (FAP) ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and meeting customer needs Ensure that a comprehensive Victim Advocate process is in place for victims of domestic violence. Supervise a staff of professional prevention-based employees to include planning and scheduling work, identifying needs for changes in work priorities, and reviewing work to ensure satisfactory completion. Identify program resource requirements and provide FAP budget input to include manpower, supplies, and equipment. Coordinate social work services and provide referrals to other programs and services to include a Military Treatment Facility, Child Protective Services, Chaplains, state and local social services agencies, and other military and medical personnel. Ensure that all reported cases of child/spouse abuse are coordinated properly and that professional child protective procedures are followed by all installation activities. Manage a child abuse/neglect and domestic violence prevention and education program. Provide education and skills development activities such as parenting skills, stress and conflict management, support groups, developing personal responsibility, and couples’ communication. May require the incumbent to take calls after normally scheduled work hours and may occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position has a specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Child Care Background Check during the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 10% of the time.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid State Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has an irregular tour of duty and may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays and in other situations.

Basic Requirement for Social Worker (FAP): Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting assessments to determine risk for child maltreatment or domestic violence and experience in working collaboratively with a variety of agencies and individuals, such as attorneys, Federal Courts, hospitals, Federal Probation Officers, psychologist, psychiatrists, and physicians. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
