This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Major Range Test Facility Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serve as the Management Support Specialist for the Garrison Command staff.

Duties

Serve as Action Officer on a wide variety of tasking and projects, which requires evaluation, analysis, and little supervision. Serve as a functional staff expert on all aspects of administrative support activities and operations for the Garrison. Prepare and review job descriptions for accuracy before submitting to Civilian Personnel Advisory Center. Plan, coordinate and monitor administrative matters concerning organizational segments, including directorates, divisions, and offices, to ensure compliance with existing policies and procedures. Review and determine priorities of actions based on knowledge of operating programs, organizational structure, missions, and functions. Manage routine administrative functions within the Commander's office such as, input to the Installation Calendar database, travel arrangements, arrange conferences, schedule appointments and meetings, draft correspondence, etc. Manage the budget of the Office of the Commander, to include future year requirement determination.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; Evaluating and coordinating staff actions; performs review of actions, determines and establishes priorities; maintains records and files such as suspense records; utilizes office automation software and programs to generate documents and reports; manages routine administrative functions within the office and provides technical administrative direction and assistance to staff members and subordinate staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Management, or a related field, etc. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
