You will serve as a Supply Technician in the Hazardous Material Management Division of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK.

Duties

You will be responsible for a wide range of inventory management and physical distribution functions of hazardous materials of decentralized and decontrolled items which includes: supplies, equipment, forms and publications. You will be responsible for expediting the delivery of urgently required hazardous material items. You will serve as a point of contact for all hazardous material processes in support of inventory control, receipt, labeling, storage, monitoring, inspecting, shelf-life management and issuance of HAZMAT to the customer. You will perform processing, validation and maintenance functions. You will monitor usage data and research changes in trends to ensure proper stock levels are maintained. You will maintain manual and mechanized data base files required for the Comprehensive Approach to Pollution Prevention (CAPP).

  • You will be required to obtain/maintain proper licensing (CDL A, B, OR C if required) as well as government operator permit as determined by employing command with HAZMAT certification to transport hazardous material.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to lift up to 40lbs in weight.
  • You will be required to distinguish between basic shades of color.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying supply and hazardous material management regulations, policies, methods and procedures to perform a wide assortment of supply transactions, inventory management, and warehouse functions. Examples of specialized experience should include most or all of the following: 1) Maintaining inventory records by conducting periodic physical inventories of hazardous material to ensure accuracy of stock records; 2) Reviewing requisitions and supporting documents to identify special supply items; 3) Preparing reports to determine stock replenishment requirements of hazardous materials; 4) Utilizes established guides and formulas to meet stock replenishment timelines; 5) Performing technical screening on requested materials to ensure that supply meet customer requirements.
