This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Surface Force Logistics Center, Industrial Operations Division, Naval Engineering Department Miami, Industrial Production Facility Miami, Miami, FL

Duties

The selectee performs painting and sandblasting work and is responsible for the preparation, by mechanical and chemical process, and the protective and cosmetic coating of buoys, vessels, structures, and miscellaneous objects.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
• The position requires a valid state driver's license.
• This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
• A one-year probationary period may be required.
• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:  Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen Out Element) Practices in Construction, Structure Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprint reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials Dexterity and Safety National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
