About the Position: Responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, integrating, and executing all services provided by the Casualty Assistance Center.

Duties

Present Casualty Assistance briefings for various outlets to include military units, family groups, and civic organizations. Provide positive response to inquiries from Congress and other high-level officials. Establish internal measures for processing and submitting casualty report information for the Casualty Assistance Program. Research data to formulate applicable changes, as required, to forms and policies relevant to the Casualty Assistance Program.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquires (NACI).
  • TDY travel may be required up to 10%.
  • Being on call is a regular requirement of this position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience planning, developing, coordinating, integrating and executing all services by the Casualty Assistance Center. Direct involvement in assisting and coordinating casualty notification and assistance, fatal accident presentations and investigations. Ensure mortuary benefits are applied and implemented in accordance with regulations; respond to Congressional and other inquiries; research guidance, policy and procedures on casualty and mortuary affairs and matters; and ensure all pay, allowances and death gratuities are properly paid.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Social Science. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Interpersonal SkillsManages and Organizes InformationOrganizational Awareness Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
