About the Position: Serves as Training Instructor (Flight Simulator/Examiner), independently evaluates each aviator's performance in accordance with published standards as satisfactory or unsatisfactory. Duties

Conduct instrument training, and instrument flight evaluation utilizing the UH-60"Blackhawk" Flight Simulator, CH-47F Transportable Flight Proficiency Trainer (TFPS), Longbow Crew Trainer (LCT) and Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (AVCATT) Conducts training in a manner that is purpose-oriented. Evaluates comprehension, retention, and application of procedures related to visual and instrument flight, tactical flight, emergency procedures, and limitations

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a certification from the Instrument Flight Examiner Course (IFE)
  • This position may require the incumbent to work extended hours.
  • This position requires a Secret Security Clearance.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience: applying, teaching, or instructing flight simulator training concepts and techniques; utilizing motion and non-motion based Flight Simulators; conducting formal classroom instruction and instruction/demonstration; evaluation of applied material in the aircraft environment; developing, upgrading, and revising scenarios, periods of instruction, lesson plans, and/or courses of instruction for presentation in the classroom or the aircraft environment; and conducting both ground instruction and/or evaluations and in-flight simulator instruction/evaluations including refresher and mission related training. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, aeronautical technology or aeronautical science or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: aeronautical technology or aeronautical science. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
