About the Position: Serves as the Deputy Director for the Protection Directorate (PD), oversees and ensures staff facilitation of all Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP), Critical Infrastructure Protection, Chemical Biological Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE), Operational Security (OPSEC), Personnel Recovery (PR), Law Enforcement (LE), Explosives Ordnance Device (EOD), Safety, Air and Missile Defense (AMD), and Cyber and Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA) lines of efforts.

Duties

Assist the Director in planning, directing, supervising, and coordinating of the Protection Directorate activities comprised of five operating divisions. Provides expert advice and scope of knowledge in protection mission areas, including, PR, AT, CBRN, LE, OPSEC, AMD, Safety, EOD, and other missions assigned by CDR USARNORTH and Director. Analyze, interprets, and develops administrative guidance, policies, and directives prescribed by higher authority into guidance/SOP for the Directorate. Ensure training and professional development opportunities are provided to all members (civilian, contractors, and military) of the Protection Directorate. Advise and recommends protection priorities such as the Critical Assets List (CAL) and Defended Assets List (DAL), FPCONs and random AT measures. In the event of terrorist attack or other emergencies, the incumbent directs, supervises, advise crisis management planning and execution of force protection activities and support. Supervise manpower surveys and changes to Tables of Distribution and Allowances (TDAs). Manages civilian and military awards, performance rating chain, personnel leave requests, MER, and ATAAPS.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent will be required to deploy within the NORTHCOM AOR on short notice (in under 24 hours).
  • Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must be able to wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) or clothing such as boots, goggles, gloves, chemical mask and other safety equipment as required.
  • This position is deployable; a pre-deployment physical is required upon deployment notification.
  • Must be able to receive inoculations IAW DoD requirements for travel to specific countries.
  • TDY will be Approximately 35% of the time.
  • A Supervisory Probationary Period maybe required.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
