This position is located on United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Departmental Administration (DA), Office of Operations (OO), Mail and Reproduction Management Division (MRMD). The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for mail management activities' department-wide; centralized distribution of incoming and dispatch of outgoing mail; special courier service staff and general offices; updating and issuing of USDA mail policy procedures and assures security of mail.

Duties

Provides direction and planning of work assignments to a group of employees providing transportation services for USDA personnel and courier services. Coordinates the pickup and delivery of important, confidential, and often highly classified messages. Plans use of subordinate workers equipment, facilities, materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Assures that drivers are aware of and adhere to regulations governing the use of official vehicles. Plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors. Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects.

Requirements

  • You must be a US Citizen or US National.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Subject to one year supervisory/managerial probationary period unless prior service is creditable. New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required training program before the end of their probationary period.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. A valid current driver's license is required upon entry to this position. A clean driving record is required.
