Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately September through August, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year. Duties

Serves as park tree trimmer and is assigned a special purpose vehicle and equipment for performing coconut and other hazardous tree removal and trimming operations. Duties performed: Climb and trim coconut trees up to 70' in height using Swiss grip climbing bands. Operate a 26,000# bucket truck and tow equipment trailer with air brakes. Perform basic carpentry, painting and plumbing, tasks at a sub journeyman level. Ability to direct helpers, laborers and lower-level workers that are assisting with tasks. Perform custodial duties and ground and building maintenance on various buidings.

Qualifications

Have the ability to do the work of Tree Faller without more than normal supervision. (Screen out). This includes work such as: Operate different types and sizes of chainsaws in felling trees. Fell trees of various sizes in non-developed areas. Determine the appropriate method/process to fell trees, taking into consideration tree species, defects, wood characteristics and environmental hazards that may alter desired felling results. Determine and apply the appropriate specialized tools to fell trees in desired direction. Use ropes and cables to perform tree rigging and removal. Operate skid steer loaders, brush chippers, stump grinder and portable winches. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Have the ability to do the work of Tree Worker without more than normal supervision.
