The OMB is a component within the Executive Office of the President that helps Federal departments and agencies implement the commitments and priorities of the President. OMB is seeking candidates for a Student Trainee position. We are seeking students through the Pathways Internship Program that have strong communication skills and are innovative, analytical, and results-oriented problem solvers who will thrive in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Duties

Student intern trainees will work independently and as a part of teams of professionals and other students to support Budget Review Division (BRD) activities including formulation and execution of the President's Budget, setting up and executing collaborations and data collection activities, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting innovative and cost-effective IT solutions to support the core business processes and mission of the branch. They will be required to multitask between developing collaborations, data collection exercises and other tasks in a fast paced environment; assist with research and gathering technical requirements; and provide support to supervisor and staff on projects. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet following Pathways Internship Eligibility and Minimum Qualifications Requirements. Pathways Internship Eligibility: Applicant must have accepted enrollment or be enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) on a full- or half-time basis (as defined by the institution which they attend) in one of the accredited educational institutions: public or private high school; state-approved home school; technical or vocational school; 2-year or 4-year college or university; graduate or professional school; or postsecondary home school curriculum. Interns must be in good academic standing, as defined by the institution which they attend. Interns must continue to meet all of the eligibility criteria throughout the duration of their Intern appointment. Interns must provide a copy of up-to-date proof of enrollment at the end of each academic year, unless the supervisor or HR Specialist requests a copy more frequently. Interns must be taking at least a half-time academic/vocational/or technical course load in a qualifying academic institution. The definition of half-time is the definition provided by the school in which the student is enrolled. *Official documentation is required with application to verify current or projected enrollment (i.e. official documentation from school, student or course schedule, official transcript, acceptance letter, or receipt of tuition payment to the school). Minimum Qualifications: GS-05: You qualify for the GS-05 grade level if you have successfully completed 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university. Note: Transcripts (unofficial or official) MUST be submitted to support claim. -OR - GS-07: You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you meet one of the following: Successfully completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education from an accredited college or university (1 year of graduate education is the number of credit hours determined by the college, university, or school to represent 1 year of full-time study); OR Successfully completed a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university AND meet Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) based on ONE of the following: 1) Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, based on completed courses. -OR- 2) Grade-point average (G.P.A.) -- Applicants must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. (Grade-point averages are to be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9.) -OR- 3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society -- Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies. Membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision. Note: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted to support your claim.
