About the Position: This position is with the US Army Sustainment Command, 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center at Fort Devens, MA.

Duties

Inspect incoming and outgoing ammunition and explosives for damages, lot integrity, item compatibility, proper blocking and bracing, packaging, loading, and condition of conveyances. Receive, inspect, sort, and classify ammunition and explosive items turned-in by units. Perform minor care and preventive maintenance of ammunition containers, boxes, pallets, using hand power tools, paint, banding machines, appropriate hardware and stenciling machines. Collect and analyze data, use computer data bases to enter, edit, transmit, store and retrieve information, and generate reports. Prepare munitions for issue, shipment, daily and quarterly inventories by moving items, opening boxes, physically handling, counting or checking magazine data cards. Adhere to safety regulations, such as explosive limitations, item compatibility requirements, re-warehouses as necessary or stock location and the provisions of additional space.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Must pass a pre-appointment physical, and annual physicals, once hired.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully complete training in accordance with FORSCOM Regulation 350-10 to become ammunition certified.
  • Must be able to work occasional nights, weekends, evenings, and holidays in support of Reserve and National Guard training.
  • Regularly handles weights at 70 pounds, and at times over 70 pounds, assisted and unassisted.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.
  • This is a Drug Testing-Designated Position (TDP). A selectee must pass a pre-employment drug test, and as an incumbent, is subject to random drug testing, and drug testing when there is a reasonable suspicion that the incumbent uses illegal drugs.

Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside regardless of weather conditions including ice and snow. Works exclusively with, and in close proximity to, hazardous chemicals and explosives for 75% of the time.
