***ATTN This is a Temporary Position*** About the Position: This position serves as a Laborer at the Bonneville Dam, Oregon. The incumbent performs manual labor tasks in accomplishing a variety of maintenance work.

Duties

Uses a variety of common hand tools to perform simple maintenance or repair jobs and/or assisting others in more complex and demanding tasks. Performs routine maintenance work, such as painting, preparing metal surfaces for painting and/or epoxying, scrubbing, sweeping, debris removal, tree cutting, litter pickup and pulls weeds. Works as part of a crew assisting with a variety of routine maintenance and upkeep duties in and around the park. Performs typical janitorial tasks using regular household or industrial powered equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • You must be able to obtain/maintain a valid sate driver's license.
  • A pre-employment physical is required and an annual physical thereafter.
  • You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) LABORER ~ without more than normal supervision. Performs common routine manual laboring tasks after being instructed on what is to be done and how to do the task. You must be skilled in performing a variety of simple ground maintenance tasks. You must be able to assist in loading and unloading various supplies and materials. Work is performed under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort - Work requires continuous standing, walking, stooping, bending, etc. Lifts, carries, loads, unloads and moves materials, supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions - Works around water, with majority of work being performed outside in all kinds of weather. Work is by nature dirty, dusty and may require working around or with noisy equipment. Work around tools and equipment requires care and attention to safety practices prescribed, in order to avoid injury to self or others and/or damage to equipment.
