Duties

Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions/failures and performs required adjustments/repairs using a variety of test equipment, such as tech, dwell, timing light, oscilloscopes, air conditioning, and diagnostic unit. Installs, replaces or repairs items involving moderate complexity within the following systems: ignitions, charging, exhaust, brakes, air conditioning, front suspension, emission control, fuel, starting, and drive train assembly. Adjusts settings, according to manufacturer's specifications for ignition point and timing, voltage regulator, points, gapping spark plugs, engine idle and carburetor air/fuel mixtures, etc. May assist in performing major repairs to engines, transmissions, differentials, and suspensions, and may give safety instruction classes to patrons. May operate patron/NAF activity motor vehicles for the purpose of road testing or moving the vehicle in or out of the work area.

Requirements

• Incumbent is required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
