About the Position: You will be a team member of the 174th Infantry Brigade, "The Patriot Brigade". The organization is comprised of Active Duty, Army Reservist, Army Reserve Active Guard and Reserve (AGR), and National Guard AGR soldiers. Their mission is to train mobilized Reserve Component (RC) units for deployment in accordance with Combatant Commander, Department of the Army, Forces Command (FORSCOM), and First Army directives.

Duties

Research, studies, and analyzes matters concerning mobilization requirements, missions, procedures, and related issues. Utilizes established and emerging automation initiatives in support of mobilization planning for RC units and Soldiers within Command responsibility. Coordinates planning activities with higher, adjacent, and subordinate headquarters and staff. Reviews and analyzes higher headquarters operation orders (OPORDs), fragmentary orders (FRAGOs), and informational directives for suitability, feasibility, and acceptability to the operation’s Brigade mission and span of operational control. Conducts analysis of mobilization and deployment plans and orders issued by Forces Command (FORSCOM), other commands, and Mobilization Stations. Manage plans, policies, and procedures contained in a variety of systems and publications (e.g., Army Mobilization and Operations Planning and Execution System (AMOPES), FORSCOM Mobilization and Deployment Planning System (FORMDEPS). Utilizes multiple centralized automated systems (e.g., HQDA Mobilization and Deployment Information System (MDIS), Army Force Generation (ARFORGEN) Synchronization Tool (AST), and DA Mobilization Planning System (DAMPS). Performs a variety of clerical and administrative tasks (e.g., filing, statistical reports, operation of office automation equipment, collaborative meeting support suc as video-teleconferences (VTCs), etc.) associated with assignments.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Review and analyze programs designed to establish and maintain unit readiness; 2) Conduct analysis of mobilization and deployment plans/orders; AND 3) Utilize automated systems related to mobilization and deployments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Operations SupportPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
