About the Position: Serves as a working leader of 3 or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work.

Duties

Relay instructions received from supervisor, and starts work by assigning the immediate tasks. Identify metals and determines welding specification needed to complete the work. Prepare welding equipment to meet the assigned tasks. Work along with other workers, setting the pace. Determine the temperature range, amperage, voltage, gage pressure, and volume to ensure metal fusion. Utilize hand tools to include, a bench grinder, soldering iron, disc sander, hydraulic press, hand drill, drill press, air and electric impact wrench's, etc.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Welder Leader without more than normal supervision. Welding a variety of metals and thicknesses using arc and gas welders. Skilled in the use of hand and power tools. Ability to work under the supervision of a Supervisor who issues instructions on work sequences, procedures, methods, and deadlines. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Lead or SuperviseAbility To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentDexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MetalsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Efforts: The work requires standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, crawling and sometimes working in cramped and awkward positions. Regularly lifts, carries and/or holds objects weighting from 20 to 50 pounds; and occasionally lifts objects weighting more than 50 pounds to set up work and equipment needed to complete tasks. Utilizes available lifting and handling devices and equipment where possible. Requires good hand, eye, and foot coordination in the manipulation of gears, pedals and steering wheel of fork lift, motor vehicle, and other equipment operation. Working Conditions: Works primarily inside on concrete floor in a building which is ventilated and occasionally damp and drafty. Noise is disagreeable and difficult to talk above. Subject to serious burns which could result in loss of time beyond 5 days. Wears and utilizes required safety clothing and equipment such as shoes, goggles, apron, gloves, welding hood, ear plugs, etc. Clothing becomes soiled from dirt and grease.
