Duties

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, Gulf of Mexico OCS Region, District Field Operations, Production Operations Inspection Unit A, Houma District and Production Inspection Unit B, Lafayette District, in Houma & Lafayette, LA. At the full performance level (GS-13) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Develops methodologies, establish the priorities, and prepare schedules for the performance of assigned work, and assigning work to the staff considering the nature and difficulty of the assignment and the capabilities of employees. 2. Reviews and approve production operations, pipeline activities, conservation of natural resources and environmental protection. 3. Conducts internal reviews and oversight of the inspection programs and ensures that all inspection activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements, Inspection Program Handbook, Field Supplements and applicable guidelines and policies. 4. Serves as a subject matter expert providing authoritative guidance and technical interpretation to senior staff, District and Regional management, regarding all aspects of the oil gas and mineral production operations. 5. Directs the conduct of internal reviews and oversight of the offshore production inspection program in the GOMR to assure that all such activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements and all applicable guidelines and policies. The Bureau of Safety has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.. Salary Information GS-13: Step 1 - $119,502 - Step 2 - $155,357 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. Physical Requirements: Occasional walking, bending, stooping, and climbing tall ladders during inspection of offshore oil and gas facilities. Helicopter, marine vessel, and automobile travel is required. As defined by the BSEE medical standards program, you will be required to pass a pre-employment medical examination as a condition of employment. Work Environment: Scheduled and unscheduled offshore overnight stays, as well as weekend duty assignments may be required by this position. Weekend duty assignments are required by the position and are scheduled throughout the year. Security Clearance Required: You will be required to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Background Investigation if you are selected and hired for this position. Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying. Specialized Experience To qualify for the GS-13, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1. Investigating an accident or significant incident, compiling all pertinent data including interviews of operator staff, and writing a report that substantiates findings that may serve as a basis for recommendations for a Civil Penalty. 2. Evaluating the Region's inspection program and providing recommendations to help improve the program's processes; AND 3. Participating in Operator Annual Performance Reviews (APR) and providing inspector perspectives on their operations to help improve overall operations and safety. Must meet all.
