The purpose of this civilian position is to perform a variety of preliminary and immediate control tasks in regards to the maintenance, inspection, and repair of aircraft, aircraft propulsion units to include engines and their subsystems, associate Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE), and auxiliary power units via weekly and monthly maintenance schedules and plans. Additionally, will assist Aircraft Scheduler, trains reservists and other office personnel in the accomplishments of tasks.

Duties

Develops maintenance, operational plans for assigned aircraft, control tasks in regards to the maintenance and repair of aircraft and their propulsion units including engines, their subsystems, and associated Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) and Auxiliary Power Units (APU) Functions as the Aircraft/Engine Tracking/Comprehensive Engine Management System (CEMS) and Data Base Monitor Develops and recommends local engine management policy and procedures on applicable Technical Order and AFI guidance Processes all engine download data Serves as the Propulsion Systems Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO)/Life Limit Monitor Prepares and conducts training and skill level progression of assigned Air Force Reserve production schedulers (Aircraft/Engine)

• The incumbent may be required to work compensatory or overtime to meet workload demands. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty
• The incumbent of this position, may be required to perform inspections or write evaluations on workcenter and/or maintenance group employees
• Will be expected to lead all functions of office when team is absent
• Performs other duties as assigned, not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities
• This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes working with recurring manufacture, overhaul, or repair of products or projects using multiple process production methods and procedures to develop plans and information necessary for the control of complex products such as airframes of fixed and rotary wing aircraft or a variety of complex and long-term facility repair and construction projects. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Ability to plan, schedule, and take corrective action to meet emergency and regular work load requirements. Skill in oral communication to effectively communicate with senior operations and maintenance personnel. 2. Knowledge of assigned equipment. Knowledge of and skill in the use of automated maintenance information systems and aircraft maintenance documentation processes to collect, compile, and correlate production data from a variety of sources and use that data to determine compliance status of scheduled maintenance, inspection, and modification actions. 3. Knowledge of and ability to interpret military aircraft and manufacturing terminology, technical orders, data, standards and instructions, and to relate them properly to the particular control projects assigned in preparing production plans and schedules and in maintaining effective follow-up. 4. Knowledge of maintenance organizational structures and skill in the distribution of personnel to obtain balance in work load. Ability to correlate and analyze a variety of routine production data, technical manuals, and directives to determine applicability. 5. Knowledge and skill of appropriate production/technical processes and material posture of maintenance work centers to assure continuing availability of material requirement. 6. Knowledge of aerospace systems, subsystems, components, and associated inspection, repair, modification, and supply processes. Knowledge of personnel management policies, practices, and procedures. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
