This position is located in the Executive Office of the President (EOP), Office of Administration (OA), Office of the Chief Operations, Mail and Logistics Management Office (MLMO). The Logistics Assistant (Mail/MVO) will be responsible for providing logistical support for the complex, providing customer service to internal and external customers regarding mail procedures, and delivering mail throughout the EOP campus and the National Capital Region.

Duties

As a Logistics Assistant (Mail/MVO), GS-0303-7, your typical work assignments may include the following: Provides customer service to internal and external customers regarding logistics and mail procedures Meters outgoing postal mail, performs mass mailings, and charges most economical postage Transports and delivers mail, express overnight packages, and bulk parcels within the National Capital Region Operates platform truck to pick up and deliver materials and equipment to various locations and work sites Collects unclassified materials for destruction from designated offices throughout the EOP complex Tracks and reports workload statistics for overall monthly Mail Center Reports

  • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Must able to operates cargo, minivan, sports utility vehicle, or trucks typically having an approximate gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 26,000 pounds.
  • Must complete a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Must be able to work various shifts and weekends.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. The qualification requirements are in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standards. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band in Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. ALL QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE MET BY THE CLOSING DATE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. You may qualify at the GS-7 level, if you must meet the following minimum qualification requirements:One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector that demonstrates the following: transporting and delivering mail, overnight packages, and bulk parcels; collecting unclassified material for destruction; operating platform truck to pick up and deliver materials and equipment to various locations; and providing customer service to internal and external customers regarding logistics and express mail procedures. Physical Requirements: The incumbent must possess a valid driver's license and must be able to successfully operate a box truck NTE GVW of 26,000 lbs., minivan, sports utility vehicle, industrial equipment and MHE equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks). The incumbent must complete a pre-employment physical and be able to lift objects weighing 50 pounds or more repeatedly. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
