Duties

Serves as a campground host/caretaker of an Outdoor Recreation Campground during the operating season. Independently performs work that contributes toward the well-being of both civilian and military guests as well as the protection and safety of these guests, other employees and government property. Ensures patrons are authorized users of the facility. Uses tact and diplomacy to deny entrance to unauthorized personnel or to remove those not adhering to rules and policies. Ensures that patrons comply with applicable rules and standards. Maintains assigned area in a clean and orderly manner. Provides security at designated areas by patrolling the premises to prevent unauthorized access. Performs routine security checks to insure buildings, gates and equipment are properly locked or secured during evening hours. Inspects grounds for fire, break-in, vandalism or trespassing. Reports incidents to proper authorities. Cleans and performs minor maintenance around work space and on equipment.

Requirements

• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Must complete a CPR/First Aid Certification Course within 6 months of employment.
• Must be able to live onsite at an Outdoor Recreation Campground.
• Must be able to work a regular or rotating schedule that may include evening or nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to operate and use the various safety and other electronic and automated equipment involved in providing for the well-being of guests as well as the protection and safety of these guests, other employees and government property.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Driver’s license if position requires operation of government vehicle within 3 months of employment.
• Must be able to work predominantly outside in a variety of terrain and in hot, cold, wet, dry, windy and dusty conditions.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements are: Must have knowledge of and experience in a wide variety of Outdoor Recreation pursuits, particularly camping and recreational vehicles. Must possess customer service work experience. Must possess a valid driver's license if incumbent to drive a vehicle. Highly Qualified candidates will have the following: Ability to do routine patrols of parks after hours. Possess comprehensive knowledge of lawn equipment. ***Applicants that meet the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred to management for consideration first.
