Duties

You will read incoming correspondence, publications, regulations, and directives that may affect the organization. You will serve as a personal assistant and confidential secretary to the Director, IC4, a Major General's billet. You will control the supervisor's calendar, scheduling meetings and appointments without prior approval. You will attend meetings, notes commitments made, inform staff of commitments and arranges for staff to follow on implementation. You will write letters to external and internal personnel, arrange hotel accommodations, coordinate transportation, and establish social arrangements.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Generally, current Federal employees applying to GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. All qualifications and pay band requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and documented in your resume.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service of equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge of congressional, Department of Defense, Department of the Navy and OPNAV administrative and management principles, concepts, policies and practices, including budget and acquisition terminology and principles, knowledge of staff procedures for proper documentation, handling and routing of action packages, and the ability to use standard office automation applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) to prepare correspondence, reports and briefings in final form.
