This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Duties

The primary function is to emphasize the identification, evaluation, and treatment of historic structures, buildings and land. Performs field and office duties to ensure built-environment resources are given full consideration throughout planning, design, construction, and operation assignments. Ensure that historic-period sites and built environment resources are given full consideration in assigned projects. Serves as a staff expert in addressing concerns about historic-period structures buildings, and sites related to maintenance, repair, renovation, construction, and demolition.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid Driver’s License at time of appointment.
• Incumbent is expected to travel approximately 10% of the time to attend workshops, meetings, hearings or to perform field work.

Basic Requirement A bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR A combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) AND Qualifications In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualifications listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Assisting in the management of a historical program; 2) Researching historical records to respond to management requests; 3) Preparing briefings and/or reports to present findings; and 4) Conducting interviews to obtain data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
