The organizational location of this position is: 325 OPERATIONS SUPPORT SQ, Tyndall AFB, FL The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a security specialist, providing information, industrial, personnel, and physical security program functions in support of the organization.

Duties

This is a GG-11 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-11 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-11 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. ***Salary Ranges shown do not include locality*** The initial temporary appointment will be for a period NTE 1 year and may be extended in increments of up to 1 year. Multiple extensions to the temporary appointment are allowed, however, the appointment plus the extensions cannot exceed a total of 3 years." DUTIES: SECURITY SPECIALIST Implements and administers the Information Security Program for the organization. Administers the Industrial Security Program for the organization. Administers the Personnel Security Program for the organization. Implements and administers the Physical Security Program. Assists managers in implementing security education and motivation programs.

Requirements

  • All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
  • Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information,
  • TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE PAID
  • This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guide
  • Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program
  • Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
  • Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
  • Employee must maintain current certifications

  • Certification, and Physical Security Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification
  • The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess quality level experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Quality experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by Knowledge of information, industrial, personnel and physical security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist manager s in establishing and operation internal security programs. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related in courses. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Knowledge of information, industrial, personnel and physical security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas. 2. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist manager s in establishing and operation internal security programs. 3. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the installation. 4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately. 5. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contribution to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishments of the mission. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
