Duties

Provide medical standards guidance policy interpretation and application to health care professionals, medical support staffs and other personnel. Develop element goals and objectives that integrate organizational planning into the Medical Treatment Facility's overall vision. Provide consultant and advisory support to wing, base, and group executive staff concerning force health (e.g., medical standards, Physical Examination and Processing Program and Aeromedical Information Management Waiver Tracking System statistics. Perform quality reviews of Duty Limiting Conditions, physical examinations, profiles, and appropriate clearances before these documents are forwarded or leave the Medical Treatment Facility. Liaison between squadron/unit commanders, supervisors, and the health care providers concerning medical clearances, keeping all parties informed of current status for all personnel duty limitations and mobility availability decisions Function as key focal point and functional expert for the analysis, interpretation, and application of medical standards to include waiver actions.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes using a Medical Standards Directory to determine medical qualifications for worldwide duty and mobility status and conduct administrative quality reviews. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Health, Allied Sciences, Hospital Administration, Public Health Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience maybe used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages
