About the Position: This Technical Editor position is located at US Army Operational Test Command, G3/5 Plans Division with duty location of Fort Cavazos, TX.

Duties

Work independently to technically review and edit operational test plans for non-delegated test events. Review and edits delegated (signed by test director) test plans and reports. Review the issues, criteria, analytical procedures, methodology, data collection methods, and test data requirements and elements addressed in test plans Attend meetings and briefings to obtain knowledge of changes required in final reports. Use statistical knowledge to ensure technical, statistical procedures, and data are correct, and advises test officer of noted discrepancies, recommends changes, and rewrites as necessary. Advise on matters such as proper presentation of data and facts, adequacy of data, construction of graphics and how to treat questionable data. Ensure all test plans comply with ATEC, Deputy Under Secretary of the Army Test and Evaluation (DUSA-TE), and Office of the Secretary of Defense Director, Operational Test and Evaluation requirements.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the duration of your employment.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 25% of the time.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree such as Operations Research, technical communications, or other fields directly related to the position being filled; and at least one course above the introductory level in field(s) covered by the position. For technical manuals and specifications writers or editors, the equivalent of 15 semester hours may have been gained through vocational or educational training above the high school level at a public, private, or Armed Forces school. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
