You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR) in the NUCLEAR ENGINEERING and PLANNING DEPARTMENT, ASSISTANT NUCLEAR ENGINEERING and PLANNING MANAGER, NUCLEAR PLANNING and ESTIMATING BRANCH (Code 2301.2) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will serve as the technical expert on the concepts and practices of nuclear planning, estimating, and engineering. You will provide job planning services for work and technical documents using Baseline Advance Industrial Management (BAIM) and other established procedures. You will prepare accurate technical and planning documents and reports in a timely manner for interested groups. You will problem solve to make judgements and decisions for shipboard machinery components and systems. You will utilize computer software used in developing nuclear engineering and planning products.

Requirements

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying nuclear technical guidance and work principles to resolve complex problems and coordinate various phases of work for ship repair production operations.
