This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Coast Guard Maritime Intelligence Fusion Center Pacific (MIFC PAC) on Coast Guard Island in Alameda, CA.

Duties

In this position, you will serve as the Chief of the Fleet Area Special Security Office (FASSO) Section in the Support Division at MIFC PAC.  The incumbent manages a section of military and civilian security specialist, intelligence specialist and information systems technicians both in Alameda, Ca and a satellite office in Honolulu, HI. These two offices provide Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security management for National Security Cutters (NSC's), future PACAREA afloat Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF's) and shore-side SCIF's throughout the Pacific Area (PACAREA).

  • This position requires a Top-Secret clearance.

Qualifications

GS-13: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience includes: Supervising senior team leaders, to include managing performance review periods and conducting supervisory counseling, performance feedback, and leadership; Assisting in the oversight of large-scale physical security operations for facilities, campuses, or military bases; Knowledge of law enforcement and/or fire department strategic operations; Familiarity with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS); Directing budget formulation and execution, as well as leading review processes for upgrading systems; Managing high-level strategic relationships with senior leaders of external agencies; Responding to or resolving security problems or questions to ensure operations security; Knowledge of security clearances as they pertain to military or civil service personnel; Determining eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information and granting personnel security clearances/accesses in the presence of minor derogatory information; Responding to or resolving complex problems or questions involving Personnel Security and Suitability for service-related matters; and skill in oral and written communication. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Student Loan: Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent or term position may be eligible for student loan repayment up to $10,000 (pre-tax) for one calendar year. More than one loan may be repaid if the combined repayments do not exceed $10,000. Receipt of this incentive will require a three-year service agreement.
