Duties

This position require military membership in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard (PRARNG). Loss of military membership will result in immediate loss of your full-time military technician position. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Selected applicant(s) will be required to complete an online Onboarding process.

Requirements

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Continued employment in this position is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the mandatory training specifically identified for the position.

  • Excepted Civil Service Technicians are required to maintain a MOS/AFSC and military grade that is determined by the NGB to be compatible with the assigned technician position.
  • Must possess a valid PR driver’s license to operate government motor vehicles.
  • If selected for this position who is not qualified in one of the mentioned CMF/MOS, MUST submit to HRO, before date of appointment, the correct military paperwork/application to attend the technical training school required to be MOS Qualified.
  • If selectee fails to process the school application and does not successfully graduate from the school, he/she will be terminated from the technician program for failure to meet the compatibility standards and receive a 30 days notice of separation.
  • Acceptance of any military technician position may cause the termination of entitlements and eligibility for all military bonuses and student loan repayments. For further information you must contact the appropriate military Education Office.
  • Must not have any disciplinary action (Article15orCourt-Martial) for engaging in an unprofessional or inappropriate relationship as defined in applicable DoD Instructions concerning Army and Air Force Professional and Unprofessional Relationships.

Qualifications

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This position requires military membership in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard (PRARNG). If you are not a military member of the PRARNG (i.e. Airman, civilian, active duty Soldier, prior service, guard member from another state, reservist, IRR, State Guard, etc.), you must contact the Recruiting and Retention (R&R) Office at (787) 289-1400 extension 2015 or 2008 and request the PRARNG Military Basic Requirements (MBR) Certification. If the MBR certification is not submitted, or you do not meet the requirements to be a member of the PRARNG, your application will not be screened. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1 = All permanent Enlisted members employee (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 2 = All indefinite Enlisted members employee (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 3 = Enlisted members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 4 = Prior (former) members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 6 = Applicants who meet all requirements to become member of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Duties: As a TRAINING SPECIALIST (D0925000), GS-1712-9, you will perform a variety of staff level work to ensure the success of the Department of the Army (DA) training mission requirements based on the Army Program for Individual Training (ARPRINT). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: All Series GS-1712 candidates must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level. Each applicant must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade. Applicants must have the experiences, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, with the ability to retain and recall a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures; and, most importantly for specific positions, must have the competencies (Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Behaviors) to translate specific subjects criteria and information into a teaching/training capability. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess at least TWELVE (12) months of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as conducting or developing education and training programs; working knowledge in audio-visual presentation, educational tests and measurements, and instructing techniques; reviewing training data in the requirement; assisting in the management of the distance learning programs; ensuring that training support materials and training aids are consistent; assisting in the formulation and preparation of training schedules, directives and materials for the mission; planning and scheduling instructor proficiency classes; researching individual's regulations in training programs; calculating expenditures and maintaining supporting records; maintaining statistical data, records and advising or assisting the training administrator on courses; working experiences in presenting professional courses and briefings; and near proficient capabilities in writing reports and records.

Education
