About the Position: This is a Utility Systems Repairer-Operator Supervisor WS-5406-10 with the Directorate of Public Works, Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Moving expenses are NOT authorized, based on a determination that a move is not in the Government's interest. Recruitment relocation and/or retention incentives are NOT being offered for this position.

Duties

Assigns work and provides technical direction. Observes work in progress to anticipate and resolve problems. Assures safety and housekeeping practices are observed. Establishes deadlines, priorities, work sequences and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods and policies set by supervisors. Oversee the on site repairs in various buildings across the installation to restore systems to normal operation when correction cannot be made from the central console. Collect and maintain utility system outage and performance data. Inspects completed work for quality and work order requirements. Recommend maintenance, repair, modification and equipment replacement based on system operational analysis of data. Investigates work-related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary duty travel (5% or less) away from the normal duty station may be required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state issued Driver's License.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Job involves working under conditions of stress a good part of the time due to the importance of maintaining the system operation. Much of the work involved is caused by trouble conditions in the equipment and the system controlled. Work is performed in an office setting and in various buildings across the installation which are adequately heated, lighted and ventilated.
