About the Position: Serves as Range Officer with responsibility for managing the Yakima Training Center (YTC) range/training complex and supervising the Range Division, Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS). This is a Term Position, NTE 31 Oct 2026. This is an Obligated Position.

Duties

Serves as advisor to the Installation Commander, the DPTMS, and using unit commanders on all matters pertaining to the use of installation range facilities and the safe firing of weapons. Advises organizational personnel on all matters pertaining to safety in the firing of live ordnance. Plans, directs, schedules, and manages all range training activities. Develops budget and manpower requirements. Supervises and directs the work of the division through subordinate supervisors.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security clearance.
  • The incumbent of this position will be on call 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
  • The incumbent must attend and complete Department of the Army Range Safety Course within one year of appointment.
  • The incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • Financial Disclosure Statement OGE Form 450 is used to assist agencies and employees to avoid conflicts between duties and financial interest. This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually in accordance with DoD 5500-7-R.
