About the Position: Serves as the Chief of the Military Personnel Division with overall responsibility for the Military Personnel Management Program. Executes the functions related to providing human resources (HR) services involving the procurement, assignment and utilization of military personnel.

Duties

Serve as the Chief of the Military Personnel Division with overall responsibility for the Military Personnel Management Program. Define solutions to problems in terms of compatibility with appropriate laws, policies, or regulations to formulate a supportable management position. Brief the supported commander(s), and staff on vital personnel issues, separations, awards, educational programs, ASAP, casualty operations, mobilization, and performance evaluations. Prepare reports and briefings on program status and/or recommend actions to appropriate individuals. Develop or directs the development of performance standards, evaluates the performance of key supervisors, and reviews the evaluation made by subordinate supervisors of other employees. Review and evaluates program activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. Manage military personnel services to include, personnel processing, casualty operations, ID cards, awards recognition, training, education, evaluation, and promotion programs for assigned military personnel and family members. Distribute and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization, assures timely accomplishment of the assigned workload.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
