This position is in the Office of Research and Development (ORD), Center for Public Health and Environmental Assessment, Integrated Climate Sciences Division, Interdisciplinary Climate Assessment Branch.  About: ORD This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to one of the duty stations stated in this announcement on a regular basis (location TBD after candidate selected). *Work-from-home flexibilities may be authorized as described in the Benefits section.

Qualifications

In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below: To qualify for the GS12 level you must have at least one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS11 level defined as developing and analyzing scientific studies related to human exposure; and communicating research results. To qualify for the GS13 level you must have at least one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS12 level defined as independently developing and analyzing scientific studies related to human exposure; providing technical expertise or advice to others, or communicating research results in peer-reviewed publications. Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Skill in applying concepts, principles, practices and methodologies in epidemiology and biostatistics; (2) Skill in analyzing scientific data to assess impact of stressors on human health; (3) Skill in oral communication sufficient to present scientific assessments; (4) Skill in written communication sufficient to draft/author research results; (5) Ability to coach, mentor and train scientists; (6) Ability to synthesize and integrate scientific results into assessments. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education

You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.

A bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in the following:  major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences related to the work of this position.
