About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the IMCOM USAG Dugway Proving Ground, UT.

Duties

Identify access requirements for an individual. Report unclassified security inspection findings to higher level management. Assist with security training and briefing to ensure personnel are trained in all relevant security disciplines.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial period may be required.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. Requires the incumbent to obtain the SFPC certification within their first two years of employment.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required for approximately 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and then continue to maintain a SECRET security clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If you are selected at the GG-09 level, you may be promoted non-competitively to the next grade level upon meeting the following requirements: (1) Satisfactory demonstration of the ability to perform at the developmental/target grade. (2) If there is higher level work at the developmental/target grade level. (3) Assignment of increased responsibilities. (4) Recommendation for promotion by supervisor. (5) Satisfactory completion of all required training. (6) Completion of all DCIPS regulatory requirements for promotions. Consequently, promotion(s) are not guaranteed. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience safeguarding classified information and entering data into an automated security database. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-07). -OR- Education: A Master's Degree that is closely related to the position OR a Non-Closely Related Master's Degree or Law Degree (LLB or JD) that is supplemented by at least 15 semester hours or 22 quarters hours that are closely related to the position. Closely Related constitutes a degree which has educated the student in pertinent, specific position-related subject matter allowing the student to develop knowledge and abilities directly applicable to the position being filled such as National Security Studies, Political Science, International Relations/Foreign Affairs, Geography, Security Management/Administrations, Criminal Justice, Psychology, History, or Law. (NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application). -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information SecurityPersonnel SecurityWritten Communication Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
