You will serve as a WORK AND FAMILY LIFE (WFL) CONSULTANT of JOINT EXPED BASE LITTLE CREEK FT STORY. This is a RE-ADVERTISEMENT of Announcement Number: ST-12240134-24-ALV. Applicants that have previously applied NEED to re-apply to this announcement.

Duties

You will advise customers on work-life services programs (e.g., career, transition, relocation, personal financial management, employment, community life, emergency and crisis assistance, personal and family readiness). You will assess a work-life services program to identify trends and organizational needs to support the community (e.g., military or civilian). You will interview clients to identify needs and concerns regarding work and family life issues (e.g., relocation, career resource development, personal financial issues). You will develop multimedia presentations and facilitate work assignments using a personal computer and software programs. You will develop initiatives to promote public awareness of Personal and Family Readiness programs. You will coordinate with other activities for case support, resolution, and final disposition.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Utilizing social services delivery systems principles, theories and concepts, relating to social or behavioral science; assessing needs and concerns of clients and understanding how social or behavioral patterns or attitudes impact and affect work and family life issues; 2) Applying theories, principles, and practices of family readiness groups, life skills, education, and deployment issues; providing information or answering questions on relocation, family support, deployment and/or retirement to military or family members; 3) Applying techniques and/or principles used to conduct individual, one-on-one non-clinical counseling sessions with clientele; 4) Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy in interacting with Commands, individuals, families, military and community agencies, and staff; 5) Collecting, evaluating, and disseminating information on assessed strengths, weaknesses, and/or needs of serviced population in order to establish program goals, objectives, and procedures. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

or

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

or

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
