This position is located in United States Agency for Global Media, Voice of America, Latin America Division. The incumbent will serve as an International Broadcaster in the Creole Service. The incumbent will be responsible for conceiving, planning, researching, writing, and broadcasting original audio/video scripts of a highly complex nature and for providing Internet content for websites.

Duties

As an International Broadcaster (Creole), you will be responsible for duties to include, but are not limited to: Writes news-related stories for use in radio, television, or Internet posting. Writes feature stories on a variety of subjects for radio, television, or web posting. Initiates and conducts original interviews with a wide variety of subjects and news sources. Prepares integrated, highly targeted, well-balanced scripts, radio, or television program or program segments, or Internet web presentation that capture the attention of the audience.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S Citizen or U.S. National.
  • This is a sensitive position. If selected, this position requires the completion of the SF-86.
  • Suitability Determination: If selected, you will be subject to a background investigation to establish your suitability for federal employment. The background investigation may include, among other aspects, a review of your credit and legal history.

  • The full performance grade level for this position is GS-12.
  • This position may require working nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

Screen out factor: Applicant must have fluency in both English and Creole languages that enables you to speak, read, write, report, and translate in both languages. This language screen out factor MUST be listed in your resume to receive consideration. Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GS-11 or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience with applying video, radio, Internet broadcasting principles, and methods and journalistic knowledge. Shooting video footage, to include using motivated camera movements with a digital video camera. Knowledge of Haiti, its history, economic culture, and socio-political development.

Education is not required for this grade level. It cannot be used for qualification purposes.
