About the Position: Fort Eisenhower is approximately 139 miles east of Atlanta, GA; 80 miles southwest of Columbia, SC; 156 miles west of Charleston, SC; 175 miles southwest of Charlotte, NC; and 127 miles northwest of Savannah, Georgia. Fort Eisenhower's location is in the Augusta metropolitan area.

Duties

Schedules and makes staff visits to all assigned facilities to coordinate and monitor the Facilities Engineering Programs. Inspect facilities to validate existing conditions, determine required maintenance and repair activities, adequacy of contractual requirements and provides technical advice and instruction on facility management procedures. Develops, implements, maintains, and manages the initiation, execution, and closeout of demand maintenance orders, Preventative Maintenance Orders, and Operational Work Orders to accomplish routine maintenance, repair, and operational programs. Provides specialized information relating to Facility Maintenance and Repair, Safety, Fire Prevention and Contract management. Maintains facility records, charts and other materials in sufficient detail to facilitate the preparation of reports required by higher headquarters. Plans, develops, and monitors facility contractual requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires an extensive background check to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • This position requires the incumbent to undergo a pre-employment physical to assess their physical abilities to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires submission of a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450 upon entering the position and annually thereafter.
  • This position requires business travel up to 5% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain any installation and/or Department of Defense (DOD) license required to Operate light motor vehicles to and from work sites.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • This position requires coverage on weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Minimum Qualifications Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) experience in managing a maintenance program for office or apartment building complexes, hospitals, recreation facilities, military, or other special-purpose installations, including planning maintenance activities; 2) developing preventive maintenance programs; and 3) experience inspecting facilities to identify maintenance, repair, and construction requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. with a major study in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Facilities InspectionFacilities ManagementFacilities Operations and Maintenance Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
