About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Perform financial assistant work in the areas of Medical Services Account (MSA), Cashiers Cage and Patient Trust Fund. Operate multiple accounting systems, to include standard automated disbursing system (ADS) and General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS), which is the approved, modified double entry form of accounting. Provide support during audits to show initiations, commitments (return of overpayments), obligations, and accounts receivable. Maintain ledgers and journals which reflect the value of chargeable services performed, cash received and cash disbursed to show a complete audit trail. Identify and resolve a wide variety of complex transactions and/or recommend corrective measures. Analyze the flow of data to ensure all deposits have cleared and processed in automated systems. Update automated systems upon payment as necessary, and reverse entries when debts need to be returned. Provide assistance or training to new employees on the use of the various computer applications/systems.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Financial Management Level 1 Certification within two years of employment.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
