For more information please see: AcqDemo This position is part of the Defense Microelectronics Activity. The incumbent is responsible for IT System Administrator duties related to the design, integration, modification, upgrading, installation, and troubleshooting of networking equipment, virtual machines, computer equipment, and data communications.

Duties

This position is being filled under AcqDemo Direct Hiring Authority (DHA) for non-acquisition positions involving 51% or more of time in direct support of acquisition positions within Business and Technical Management Professional Career path. As an IT Specialist (Network) at the NH-2210-2/3 some of your typical work assignments may include: Troubleshooting, building and deploying network devices, web filters, virtual machines, Active Directory, SQL, and File server systems. Performing on-site network troubleshooting, support standardizing systems architectures, and remediating vulnerabilities. Utilizing Operating Systems to include CISCO IOS, Microsoft Windows, VMware, and Linux. Providing guidance and direction to other employees to encourage knowledge and growth. Performing quick fixes, network upgrades and restart procedures as required. Installing and using various DoD approved software packages. Assisting users with networked file servers in determining software problems for file and data problems.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the NH-03 , if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-2 (GS-04) in the Federal service as listed below: Analyzes and/or evaluates network and system equipment requirements for a variety of networking equipment, including routers, switches, and next generation firewalls, operating systems, and related hardware utilizing the knowledge of the interrelationship between components of hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment; Advises technical specialists and management on new developments and advanced techniques in the areas of networking, computers, software, and peripheral equipment computer system interfaces and telecommunication networks that have the potential of impacting the mission or cyber security posture of an organization; Utilizes networking operating systems such as Cisco IOS as well as computer operating systems from Microsoft Server, VMware, and Linux to support current and future developments associated with an information environment; and Develops budget estimates submissions and/or contractual input for the development of procurement recommendations and justifications.(Experience is clearly demonstrated in my resume.) OR B. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree;, OR C. You have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and you have more than one year but less than two years of education as described in B. You have computed the percentage of the requirements that you meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.) You may qualify at the NH-02 , if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-1 (GS-04) in the Federal service as listed below: Analyzes and/or evaluates user and system equipment requirements for a variety of networking equipment, operating systems, and related hardware utilizing the knowledge of the interrelationship between components of hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment; Supporting specialists and management on new developments and advanced techniques in the areas of networking, computers, software, and peripheral equipment computer system interfaces and telecommunication networks that have the potential of impacting the mission or cyber security posture of an organization; and Utilizes network operating systems from Cisco and computer operating systems from Microsoft operating systems, VMware, and Linux systems to support current and future developments associated with hardware. (Experience is clearly demonstrated in my resume.) OR B. Degree. Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 2210, series as listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
