This position will serve as a student trainee and will receive training in analytical methods used to develop objectively based information in support of administrative and programmatic planning, development, evaluation, and managerial decision-making. On-the-job training assignments provide a practical understanding of the organization, programs, policies, and objectives of the agency as well as furnish experience in the application of principles, procedures, and work techniques.

As a Student Trainee (Office Support), you will: Interpret written clerical policies, procedures, and/or simple regulations to review accuracy and completeness of information or figures contained in complex forms, multiple documents, and other program materials. Identify and resolve discrepancies in contents of materials reviewed, contacting originator for clarification and/or additional information and documents. Assist the public agency representatives with the proper preparation of required forms and documents. Receive and answer telephone calls and in-person inquiries of a procedural and quasi-technical nature.

Qualifications

You must meet eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing of this announcement. For the GS-05: Specialized experience is 1 year of experience at the GS-04 level or equivalent. Specialized Experience includes duties such as: Producing a wide range of documents using office automation software, desktop publishing, databases and/or spreadsheets; AND Receiving phone calls, providing information on routine or procedural matters, or referring questions to appropriate staff members; AND Enters, deletes, modifies, and retrieves data from established databases. OR 4 years above high school. OR A combination of education and experience. Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.

Education

Pathways Student Internship Program Education Requirement:

A. Must be a current student at an accredited high school (public or private) or in a home-school program*; college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, or trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled) pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. *Secondary home-school curricula must be recognized by the State or local government oversight agency.

B. You must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship. If you do not maintain eligibility and enrollment, you are ineligible for this program. C. Every semester, you must maintain good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
