About the Position: Police Officer (CLEO), participates in planning, coordinating, and conducting the enforcement program of Federal, State, and installation fish and wildlife regulations.

Duties

Conducts a full range of law enforcement activities which include surveillance, interviewing witnesses, interrogating suspects, collection of physical evidence, securing search warrants, and making apprehensions, etc. Participates in planning, coordinating, and conducting the enforcement program of Federal, State, and installation fish and wildlife regulations. Performs duties designed to provide controlled, safe hunting and boating activities, including conducting scheduled and unscheduled marine patrols. Ensures physical security measures are in effect in remote areas of the installation for the protection of Government property, endangered or threatened species, and cultural / archeological protected / sensitive sites. Conducts community relations activities, briefings, tours and other functions, which enhance appreciation of the wildlife and promotes a positive attitude and public awareness of fish, game laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • In accordance with AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • Position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Incumbent must have successfully graduated from the US Army Civilian Conservation Law Enforcement Officer Course within one year of assignment, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must meet all requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must take and pass an initial Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire, and annually thereafter.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent complete an initial Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certification, and an annual re-certification requirement.
  • Must be able to obtain clearance certification with the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN), Public Safety Commission, for access to and exposure to law enforcement sensitive information and operation of NLETS/ NCIC terminals.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 must be able to qualify initially and at a minimum, semi-annually re-certify with assigned weapon(s) and handling of assigned weapon(s) to include less than lethal weapons.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
