About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/U. S. Army Forces Strategic Command, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-2 Security Division, Security Team, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35898. Duty Station Location: Peterson AFB, CO

Duties

Serves as an Intelligence Specialist (Operations) performing counterintelligence (CI) functions for U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC). Develops and conducts multi-disciplined threat assessments in accordance with the missions, functions, organization, capabilities, doctrine, and policies associated with the National Intelligence Community, DoD, and Department of the Army Serves as a subject matter expert on all matters pertaining to CI doctrine, policy, procedures, oversight, and training in support of Force Protection, security, and intelligence missions. Provides counterintelligence support for Research, Development and Acquisition (RDA) programs, foreign disclosure, international security, personnel security, information and industrial security and automation security. Provides technical guidance and input concerning threat assessments and countermeasure briefings on Foreign Intelligence Entities’ capabilities and activities. Coordinates with Federal investigative and intelligence agencies, conducts routine liaison with supported programs, and exchanges information and operational techniques with government and industrial, intelligence, and security representatives.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
