About the Position: Must have knowledge of food preparation principles and principles of food spoilage and food safety. Knowledge of safety requirements. Must be able to operate, breakdown, and clean food service equipment (i.e., food processor, deep fat fryer, etc.).

Duties

Perform a wide variety of cooking tasks using various methods of preparation. Perform a wide variety of daily housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and sanitized facility. Set up and closes food service counters and steam tables.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a pre-employment and annual medical examination and required immunizations.
  • Heavy lifting of up to 40 lbs. may be required.
  • May require work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

I am able to do a limited variety of tasks such as grilling sausage, bacon, pancakes, and eggs to order. I am able to measure recipe ingredients or to prepare number and kind of nourishments shown on cook's worksheet. I have not received any negative comments regarding my grooming, hygiene, safety habits, or ability to keep work area neat, clean and in order. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to clean/sanitize equipment and work area. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a kitchen that is often hot and noisy. Cooks are exposed to steam, fumes, and odors from cooking. There is danger of slipping on wet floors from mopping or where food has been spilled. Cooks are subject to possible burns from steam, hot foods, stoves, grease, etc., and possible cuts from knives and electrical machines.
