About the position: This position will be assigned to the 47th Force Support Squadron, located at the NAF Accounting Office, Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, Texas. This position is considered Regular Part Time (RPT). Guaranteed 20-34 hours a week with potential to a maximum of 40 hours per week. You may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. RPT employees are eligible to earn annual and sick leave as well as benefits including Health/Dental and Life Insurance, 401k and Retirement.

Duties

Classifies and verifies a wide variety of accounting documents in order to assure the correctness and completeness of information. Prepares control sheets with appropriate codes. Maintains double-entry bookkeeping journals and subsidiary ledgers, and posting entries to establish accounts. Prepares monthly balances, reconciles accounts, and transcribes to general ledger for closeout of all accounts. Traces discrepancies, if necessary, to posting documents, computes operational expenses incurred by individual activities for accounting services provided, and assigns charges appropriately. Prepares reports such as profit and loss statements and financial statements. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in work which provides comprehensive knowledge of fund accounting methods, procedures, and techniques used to maintain and analyze all classes of accounts in accounting system, encompassing a number of diversified activities; ability to prepare financial settlements and reports. Knowledge and understanding of the regulations, guides and precedents sufficient to interpret and apply them in a variety of accounting situations. Knowledge of the accounting system sufficient to flow individual funds and specific monies form initiation through expenditure stages in order to trace discrepancies in the system. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
